The Most Inclusive Sport
Wheelchair rugby league is an adaptive version of rugby league, designed for people with physical disabilities and is open to abled bodied too.
It is played on indoors courts, with teams of five players who use specialised sports wheelchairs.
The game combines elements of rugby league and wheelchair basketball, featuring high-intensity action, strategic play, and physical contact.
We run a development session for new players looking to try out the sport every Tuesday evening, 7 to 8pm down at Cardinal Newman Catholic High School.
Wheelchair Rugby is open to both players with a physical disability but also to able bodied players, making it the most inclusive sport we offer.
The Wheelchair RL project is a great example of Rugby League at its very best. I'd encourage anyone who might be curious to just come down and give it a go.
